CONCEPT
How can we reactivate the cultural heritage of the “Waale” * in the region and revive it to visitors and locals?
Therefore, a short interactive educational walking trail was designed along the original maintenance paths of the irrigation channels. Following well-designed narrative suspense, eight stations encourage the visitor to consciously listen, feel and play with all their senses. The focus of the concept results in a balance between the natural habitat, cultural preservation, recreational areas, fun and information transfer. During construction, value was set on nature-compatible materials and an environmentally friendly assembly.

Project challenges
- Governmental requirements for nature parks
- Resistance to harsh weather/nature environments
- Integrated visitor guidance to/from the village
- Scientific information was pedagogically prepared for children and adults.
- CI conform (Oetztal tourism)
Responsibility/Field of function: Project management, Concept development, Information design

* Waale = German traditional dialect term for water pipes and irrigation channels built by previous generations to transport water from the mountain brooks to their fields and pasture down in the valley. Those irrigation channels are common in all dry regions of the Alps, especially in South Tyrol.
